Week 4 Power Rankings
Watch out Worst League!
This week, a rumbling, bumbling, stumbling behemoth officially took the world by storm. Once this force of nature picks up speed, it can’t be stopped. Charging forward with power and grace, this tank flattens anything in its path. And now, this unstoppable beast is running roughshod not just over the competition, but through our hearts.
No, I’m not talking about Derrick Henry.
I’m talking about the Internet’s newest viral sensation— Moo Deng. For those who don’t know, Moo Deng is the viral baby hippo who has captured the hearts and minds of the world. She even has a live cam. (Go ahead and take a peek. I’ll wait.)
One flattens defenders. The other flattens hearts.
And while Henry’s 35.9-point Week 4 performance was certainly impressive, it’s Moo Deng’s adorable bite that has truly captured my heart.
Alright, let’s get to the Power Rankings.
With a TW% of .841, Jess is off to the best start by any team owner since 2018.
Four games is still a pretty small sample size. But we are more than a quarter of the way through the regular season, which is significant.
If we look back at the Week 4 Power Rankings throughout league history, 65% of teams in the top-half go on to make the playoffs. (This includes teams that would have made a six-team playoff had one existed.) And the eventual champion has emerged from this top group in nine out of 13 years. Even more compelling—the most common Week 4 ranking for eventual champions is first or second.
That seems to be a pretty good sign for Jess and Beth Ann. In fact, last year at this time, four of the top-six teams in the Power Rankings went on to make the playoffs. And the top two teams (Brandon and Erik) ended up in the title game with Erik, the second-place team owner, winning it all.
Apologies that things got out away from me this week. So no news and notes. But we’ll be back and better than ever next week. Good luck to all in Week 5!
